About Eva

Eva Nienhouse, a Traverse City native, has always loved to write. Whether it was a letter to her mom when she was 4, a report for career day when she was 9, or a personal essay 15 years later, she feels most at home with a pencil in her hand. Eva graduated in three years at the top of her journalism class at Michigan State University.

In May of 2016, two weeks after graduation day, Eva moved to Los Angeles for her first post-grad job. She’d been accepted into the highly-competitive NBC Page Program, which accepts less than 3 percent of its applicants. She lived and worked in LA for a little over a year, and she learned so much about the world of entertainment, something she’d always been curious about. She worked hard, and she is so thankful for the opportunity she had to learn in the country’s media hub. She also learned a lot about rush-hour traffic and that she really did, apparently, have a “Michigan accent.”

After her year-long role as a Page ended, Eva decided to return to Michigan, her heart aching for that sense of community and compassion she had missed so much living in LA. She is so happy to once again call northern Michigan home, her soul having found the smile it’d lost.

Eva started Red Sled Productions through her passion for telling stories. She also is the assistant editor at Grand Traverse Woman Magazine. Eva believes with her whole heart that stories connect us. In the same way that words build a community and lend themselves to a sense of understanding and hearing others, to opening up and letting go, to healing and belonging, she believes that video can do this too. She’d love to share your story.

Eva loves to write, read, run, and practice yoga. She also loves a cup of comforting cinnamon tea and a good crossword puzzle.
